This might not be what you were expecting BUT. I had just gotten off a night shift the other day and while driving home something caught my eye. It's something I've witnessed a million times but this time for some reason I was so drawn to it and couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of my drive. It like God highlighted it to me to share what I will now share with you... (By "highlighted" I mean that it just stood out to me and I felt like God was trying to tell me something...)
So... I saw this man walking his dog, an everyday occurrence... and naturally when someone else was walking the opposite direction towards them the dog started getting a little out of hand, REALLY excited and wanting to rush over to them. The dogs owner tried to pull the dog back a bit and you could tell just how much of a struggle the dog put up just to force it's way over to the other pedestrian. All that work and all the dog got out of it was a little pat for a sec and moved on.
I couldn't shake it.
Wow.
I wish I was like that when I walked down the street.
I am QUITE the opposite, often judging people I meet for what they are wearing or stereotyping them etc etc... I wish I got excited to meet them.
That dog wouldn't care if someone was handicapped, had a angry look on they're face, or had skulls tattooed all over them. The dog would react the same and want to go love on them.
I want to be like that.
When I first got saved I would walk through the halls at school and just love everybody. I know I should be filled with God's love for everyone around me... What happened? How could I forget that Jesus died for EVERYONE, everyone is our brothers and sisters.
I wish I could say that every stranger I meet I can't wait to hug them and tell them how much I love them and God loves them and Bless them.
Why don't I do that?
God help me to get there. Show me Your heart for people. I need to know You more!!!
I should share that prior to this I was talking about dreams about animals, and remembering an interpretation of one of Joel's dreams about a dog being like God's unconditional love that we often will receive form an animal more than we do from God. But he wants us to know that His love is JUST as free and unconditional as an animal's is. Maybe that's what got me thinking but it doesn't matter... cause the bottom line is that God's love is for everyone around us and He loves soooo much everyone we meet. God help us to remember that and become more like an excited dog for you and all your other children :):)
