My Statement of Faith

-->I am a Christian, but a very unique kind. All Christians are unique so I invite you to ask questions and not lump everyone into the same boat (or whatever) when they say they are “Christian”. The term doesn't mean much. There is such a wide wide range of what that term could actually mean. I would like people to better understand who I am and where I'm coming from...

So, this is my Statement of Faith.

I encourage people who read this to also make your own because no one is the same. Everyone is on their own unique journey in life. It could be encouraging to read each other's words, thought provoking etc...

But I felt stirred to share mine:

- I believe in God who created the earth and human beings. Without God I would have no reason to live. It wouldn't make sense to be here if this life and death was IT – disappear.

- I believe that God is both male and female but I choose to call Him Father. Yahweh is His Name. I believe He is three in One. Father, Spirit, Son.

Which leads me the next part... Jesus. He was fully human but fully God at the same time.

- I believe God creates us all in the womb and knows everything about us. We are not a mistake even with handicaps and all shapes and sizes God has plans for us all.

- I believe this is a spiritual battle and God doesn't choose for every bad thing to happen too. However, He does allow some bad things ONLY when He can turn it all around in the end and use it for even better things in our future. Often we don't know why some things happen but we can trust that He always wants only GOOD things for us.

- I believe that even when we don't pay attention to Him, He still loves us just as much as the people who do. There are no favorites, but I believe each one of us are His favorite. He has just as much attention and love towards us as if we were the only person He sees and hears.

I don't understand that in my spirit but I know this to be true: that He loves me so much that He would have sent Jesus just for me to be reconciled to Him. He just wants to be with me.

- I believe He is Holy but He sees us all without sin. Everything is clean and pure now because of what Jesus's blood payed for. We can't sense His closeness unless we believe we are clean and CAN come to Him. There is nothing between God and I and I can run into His arms any time I want. I can talk to Him all the time and He loves to listen to me. Especially if anything is bothering me.

- I believe that He wants to be the best friend I run to for help and comfort. He wants to whisper the secrets to me on what to do. He can show me what is really going on in relationship problems.

- I believe He wants to share with us so much wisdom, we just need to listen. I believe I can hear God's voice. I believe He gives people dreams, and visions. He wants to share things with us. I believe I can be lead by Him to know what is best for me, and find understanding with what is going on around me.

- I believe there is complete rest and peace in His presence and we can enter in to that no matter where or when. We NEED to take time to rest with His because these are the times He speaks to us, and the times His Holy Spirit rests on us and changes us on the inside.

- I believe that He loves me just as I am, but that He also doesn't want to leave me as I am. He wants to help mold me and change me into someone better. His spirit can soften my bitterness, my anger, my critical spirit. He can help me heal from hurt feelings with friends and family and help me forgive. His spirit works slowly, and not everyone is healed up at the same rate. He touches our life in ways very unique to each of us and seems to line up the details to prepare us and speak to us about things He wants us to deal with.

- I believe that when there is a repetitive issue that keeps coming up in your life, God is trying to speak to you. He is bringing it up to warn you and show you there is something you need to deal with. Whether forgiving someone, or asking forgiveness about something you did.

I believe these things completely. Even if someone was going to kill me if I did not deny these things, I would not change my mind. I KNOW them to be true - its hard to explain to someone who doesn't have faith how it works. Its a matter of many experiences building this faith up for me. I talk to God, I get a sense of something. I pray, I see things begin to unfold differently. It something that each person needs to discover themselves. I cant tell you my million different experiences with God. But I do encourage each person to give God a chance. What have you got to lose?? Your life could become so much deeper and purposeful.. or not, but at least you took the opportunity to see!

Its a very interesting Spiritual journey. I have so much more to learn, and so many more ways to grow. I know I've changed a lot since I became a Christian yet I feel like God has barely scratched the surface in shaping me into the best person I can be.

- I believe there are no perfect people and I will never be perfect. I don't believe I am any better than anyone else. I could easily be in the shoes/situation of anyone else out there. We are all human, we are all sinners. We are all imperfect people who hurt others and get hurt by others. We all need Jesus, we all need Our Father. I sometimes think I need Him more, and feel more broken than the people around me!

That is what I believe. What about you?? Consider writing out your own statements. Sometimes it helps just to verbalize these things and speak them out :)
